Mario Kart 8 Wii U Bundle Spotted

Mario Kart 8 Wii U Bundle Spotted

French site Gameblog is reporting that a brand new Wii U bundle is set to release in the near future. The bundle includes Mario Kart 8 as an incentive to get gamers to pick up the new Nintendo console, which has seen rather poor sales in the past few years. Mario Kart 8 is speculated to be a possible “killer app” for the Wii U, along with Smash Bros. which is set to release later this year.

The bundle will include a standard black Wii U premium edition, with 32 GB of storage, a copy of Mario Kart 8 , and a week trial of Nintendo’s new Wii U karaoke app. It is rumored to hit store shelves on May 30 th in the US and Europe, coinciding with the release of Mario Kart 8 itself.

Nintendo has not officially confirmed the bundle, but it doesn’t seem all that weird that they would create one. The last bundle Nintendo marketed to us was The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD bundle, and it made Wii U sales jump quite impressively. An official price for the Mario Kart 8 bundle has not been given, but if it is released as the same price as the Wind Waker bundle, it likely will cost $300, or the exact same price of a Wii U without the game. Essentially, anyone who purchases the bundle will receive Mario Kart 8 absolutely free, which is quite the incentive for any Mario Kart fan that is still on the fence about picking up Nintendo’s new console.
