Taito’s Space Invaders franchise has been surprisingly hot this last generation. Space Invaders Extreme and Space Invaders Infinity Gene were huge hits that turned this simplistic shooter into a huge chaotic party of moving lights and techno beats. Taito has also been successful with music games in recent times, such as their mobile hit Groove Coaster . Now, it looks like they will be mashing the two genres together.
Taito has recently registered a trademark for Rhythmvaders in the United States. The trademark covers video game software, online game services, and interestingly enough, arcade machines. Unfortunately, no further details on the title are available. Here’s hoping it’s some sort of full arcade cabinet production. I’d love to see Space Invaders return to their coin-op days of yore.
