New Character, Big Band, Coming to Skullgirls Tomorrow

New Character, Big Band, Coming to Skullgirls Tomorrow

Indie fighting game, Skullgirls , continues to build upon its roster with the second crowd-funded DLC character, Big Band. Ben Birdland, AKA Big Band, is the man in the large saxophone shaped trenchcoat that you would normally see in the background on the Lab Seven stage. He is a former detective who was betrayed by his precinct after he started investigating the mafia. He is forced now to stay inside an iron lung at all times in order to stay alive. Luckily enough, his Iron Lung comes complete with robot arms.

Big Band is best described as a “brawler” type of character. He is huge, slow, and deals tons of damage. Nearly all of his special moves are either invincible on start-up or have super armor that lets them blow through enemy attacks. However, they also have a ton of cooldown time, so missing with a special move exposes Big Band to a world of hurt. He also has a couple interesting mechanics, including a taunt that vastly increases the damage and usability of his supers if you manage to pull it off, and the ability to parry enemy attacks, Street Fighter III: Third Strike style. Overall, Big Band wants his enemies to come to him, not the other way around.

Big Band will launch tomorrow on both the PC and PS3 versions of the game. He will be completely free as long as you download him within the first 3 months of his release. He will release to Xbox 360 platforms at a later date.
