The Order: 1886 Might Have Sequels

The Order: 1886 Might Have Sequels

In an interview with GamesTM , Ready At Dawn’s creative director Ru Weerasuriya implied that its upcoming next-gen PlayStation 4 exclusive IP The Order: 1886 may quite possibly have more than just one game to its name.

We’ve built this IP to be much bigger than just one game, ” Weerasuriya explained to GamesTM. “ There are stories that have been told in the game but there are stories that haven’t and stories about what happens after the events of this game. Absolutely, though, I would love to get the chance to tell more stories with sequels and other things we can do with the IP.

For those who don’t know, The Order: 1886 is set in an alternate history London, where an ancient order of knights protect humanity from half breed monsters. Over 1,000 years ago, humanity was split in two: one human, one half-breed. The two fought in open war for everything between control and survival. It isn’t until the Industrial Revolution where humanity takes the fight back to the half-breeds.

The Order is an ancient order of knights, basically. They were first setup to protect humanity, Weerasuriya said . “ More than a millennia ago, there was a split in humanity that causes one side to go on as humans and the other side to eventually become half-breeds. The half-breeds start to wage war with the humans for the usual ideas of control, dominion, supremacy and survival. Neither side backs down and an all-out war breaks out between humans and half-breeds. It’s not until the industrial revolution that humans build the weapons capable of taking the war to the half-breeds.

The Order: 1886 was announced during the E3 2013, and is slated to release during the fourth quarter of this year on PlayStation 4.
