Star Citizen Video Shows Spacewalking, Dog fighting and More

Over the weekend, on Saturday, April 20, the official Star Citizen YouTube channel–Roberts Space Industries–published a video of the anticipated space simulator, showcasing Cloud Imperium’s– Star Citizen’s developer–current progress on the title during this year’s PAX East in Boston.

During the presentation, Star Citizen’s director Chris Roberts demonstrated the game’s combat, maneuvering and some additional game modes and features, such as Arena Commander. The video of the demo is embedded below, but Cloud Imperium added additional footage–about 23 minutes in–of things that weren’t shown at PAX, including instructions on how to setup up a dogfight match.

What’s more, the additional footage also demonstrates how to utilize precise maneuvering to hide behind debri and wait in silent running, and later to ambush your enemy. There’s also a demonstration on how newtonian physics works in the game, and how you can use it to your advantage. As well as spacewalking outside your ship, the extra footage also showcases how gravity works on your character while out in space.

Star Citizens crowdfunding campaign still receives contributions every day towards its development. The game’s funding reached its $31 million stretch goal in late November, and shot up by $37 million in a few short months. The game is anticipated to open up for Beta sometime in early 2015 , with many features to the game being unlocked in a modular fashion. What’s more, Star Citizen will utilize the recently revealed artificial intelligence platform named Kythera .
