For any Jurassic Park fan, the upcoming Jurassic World is certainly the breath of fresh air the franchise has needed for quite some time. However, as with anything in Hollywood, the idea of profit is already taking hold and the word “sequel” is being tossed around.
Colin Trevorrow was recenty asked about the possibility of extending this into a new franchise once Jurassic World hits theaters. Revealing that this is not an unfamiliar subject, he states, “We definitely talked about sequels a lot. We wanted to create something that would be a little bit less arbitrary and episodic, and something that could potentially arc into a series that would feel like a complete story.”
As more Jurassic Park films are clearly not ruled out beyond the one currently in-development, Trevorrow talks a little about the back-bone of what will help this story carry on to JP5 and JP6 ; the cast of characters. He hints at one such individual played by Omar Sy (who will also appear in X-Men: Days of Future Past ) and gives a little insight regarding his role. “He’s essentially Chris Pratt’s best friend. They work together and have some pretty cool action scenes together. I wanted to create a relationship there that could be memorable and potentially carry on to future films.” He said.
