Director Joss Whedon Gives Avengers: Age of Ultron Update

It’s official: the next epic adventure that will see the combined might of Marvels greatest heroes is currently in-production in London. Now, director Joss Whedon gives us an update on how things are coming together.

When speaking with Empire magazine recently, Director Whedon said “I’m having a blast with Ultron. He’s not a creature of logic – he’s a robot who’s genuinely disturbed. We’re finding out what makes him menacing and at the same time endearing and funny and strange and unexpected, and everything a robot never is.”

If you’re a fan of the comics, you know The Avengers roster has gone through several permutations over the years (ranging from Spider-Man, Wolverine and even Fantastic Four’s Thing at one point). However, Age of Ultron will see all of the core cast return from the first film, as well as a few additions. In reference to the influx of new faces like QuickSilver and Scarlet Witch, Whedon states, “I fiercely dislike the idea of just throwing in more people for the sake of doing that, but last time I had all of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes versus one British character actor, and I needed more conflict.”

But how will this new duo gel with our current team? Not well at first, as Whedon describes them as being “…not very happy with The Avengers. Their powers are not insignificant and they’re quite different from what the Avengers have faced before.”

Avengers: Age of Ultron opens May 1 st , 2015.
