Nintendo Unveils Mario Kart TV

Nintendo Unveils Mario Kart TV

Remember the Mario Kart channel from the Wii’s version of Mario Kart . It was a way to keep track of your personal scores, international leader boards, and general Mario Kart news without starting up the game. Of course, since you had to use your Wii anyway, there was no particular reason why you couldn’t just start up the game.

For the newest Mario Kart on the Wii U, Nintendo is upping its game with Mario Kart TV. This new app will be accessible on both PCs and mobile devices. It will allow you to not only check your scores and records, but will allow you to capture and share videos of your races. Mario Kart TV will then showcase these videos including promoted videos by Nintendo.

This will be Nintendo’s first foray into the world of mobile devices. They have routinely said that they are not looking into putting their games on mobile devices but will be extending their products into the mobile world. However, if this is the one way Nintendo is thinking of using mobile integration it’s a bit underwhelming.
