Kadokawa Games and Dwango Co. to Merge in October

Killer Is Dead publisher Kadokawa Games will merge with video portal company Dwango Co. on October 1, 2014. The companies announced the merger at a press conference on Wednesday. After the two companies delist from the Tokyo Stock Exchange in September, they will rebrand themselves as Kadokawa Dwango Corp.

Kadokawa advisor Tatsuo Sato will serve as president while Dwango Chairman Nobuo Kawakami will become the company’s chairman of the organization. “We aim to establish the world’s leading platform for content, which would serve as a new business model in the Internet age,” said Sato. According to Polygon, the two companies plan to use each other’s strengths going forward. Kadokawa Games is known for its production of anime, movies and video games, while Dwango is known for its online presence.
