When I heard that Telltale Games would be releasing a darker retelling of the many classic fairytales in video game form, I was intrigued. Now fans will get the fourth episode of Wolf Among Us tomorrow: entitled In Sheep’s Clothing .
While the next chapter looks to continue with the same gritty, hard-nose presentation as A Crooked Mile (which received rave reviews) a recent press release touts the unique world that those of ‘ Wolf occupy. The series depicts the once fearsome Big Bad Wolf, who’s now been exiled to maintain an ordinary life (hiding amidst the real world). Now known as “Bigby”, the release recaps how he has been charged by the “…bureaucrat Snow White to keep order within a society of mythical creatures and characters trying to remain undetected in the world of the mundane… The Wolf Among Us examines the lives of beings straight from the pages of myth and lore, now trying to survive on the meanest and most run-down streets of New York.”
For those who may not already know, the games are based on a similar series of comics called “FABLES.” Written by Bill Willingham, the games act as a prequel. The release states Willingham’s work as become “…one of the richest mythologies in the world of comics, imagining that characters like Snow White, The Big Bad Wolf and Pinocchio from the world’s most beloved storybooks are real – Real, and living among us, with all of their powers intact.”
In Sheep’s Clothing is “…available now on the PlayStation Network and other digital outlets (including Steam)…It will also be coming to the App Store as an in-app purchase for compatible iOS devices later this week.”
