DICE Introduces Microtransactions to Battlefield 4

DICE Introduces Microtransactions to Battlefield 4

As of Tuesday, May 27, you will now be able to buy in-game Battlepacks in Battlefield 4 with real-life money, for those of you who value your time more so than your money.

Battlefield 4’s developer DICE announced this on the official Battlefield website. The contents of a Battlepack bundle included a mix of in-game items, such as accessories, emblem shapes, profile pictures, dog tags, XP boosts, knives and paints.

You will still be able to earn Battlepacks through normal gameplay progressions, but this introduction allows for you to purchase Battlepacks for a pretty dirt-cheap price; this option will provide you with a premium shortcut so you can catch up with other players in Battlefield . Y’know, if grinding’s not really your thing.

There will be three different Battlepacks available: Bronze, Silver and Gold for $1, $2 and $3 respectively. You will be able to purchase the Battlepack you want via Origin, Battlelog.com, Battlefield 4’s in-game store, Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Store.

DICE finally resolved Battlefield 4’s rubber banding issues on Friday, April 25. It has also introduced “ Squad Join Beta ” to the game, which will allow you to team up with up to four other players in a party-like fashion before joining a multiplayer server. Furthermore, Battlefield 4’s Rent-A-Server feature is now working on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (mostly).

The studio has also opened up a new server, coined as the “Community Test Environment” server , that will offer up the opportunity for Premium players to work with the developer in improving the game. Check out our Joshua Bruce’s review of Battlefield 4 on Xbox One here .
