Valve Delays Controllers ‘Till 2015

Valve Delays Controllers ‘Till 2015

While not exactly going back to the drawing board, Valve has recently announced that the implementations of several new concepts and tweaks will push Steam’s new controller back just a bit.

Eric Hope (who is product designer on the project), posted an update to their website breaking the news regarding their upcoming peripheral. “We’ve been getting emails from the Steam community asking us how our in-development Steam Machines are coming along…We’re now using wireless prototype controllers to conduct live playtests…It’s generating a ton of useful feedback, and it means we’ll be able to make the controller a lot better…Realistically, we’re now looking at a release window of 2015, not 2014.” Said Hope.

While I’m all for taking the extra time to do things the right way, not everyone in the gaming world is quite as understanding. Many forums and Reddit posts are abuzz with gamers suggesting the delay is just another step along the path to Valve’s Steam Machines becoming a total failure. Hope, however, does ask that the community to show patience while they continue their developments. “Obviously we’re just as eager as you are to get a Steam Machine in your hands.” He said “…We hope you’ll be patient with us while we get there.”

We’ll keep you posted on more info as it becomes available, or you can monitor Steam’s official site right here .
