New Homefront Game Announced

New Homefront Game Announced

Crytek is bringing back the Homefront franchise. A new iteration in the series will be released in 2015 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Mac and Linux. The new game, called Homefront: Revolution , will be an open world FPS set in Philadelphia. The town has been taken over by North Korean military forces and you will be in charge of leading a resistance group against their superior numbers.

The game will sport single-player and four player co-op modes, but will not have traditional competitive multiplayer gameplay. It will be co-published by Crytek and Deep Silver and will be playable at E3. We will bring you more information about the game when we see it at the show.

Apparently this game will take “open world” to a new level, changing its world as you take actions within it. “Everything you do, from throwing a brick at a KPA camera to assassinating a high-ranking KPA official, impacts the revolutionary state of the world,” designer Fasahat Salim told GameSpot. “How you go about doing these things will also have an impact on the way people respond to you and your idea of a revolution, but either way the KPA will come down hard and try to oppress you as much as they can. Everything that happens in this world is part of a lot of powerful stuff we have going on under the hood.”

Crytek purchased the Homefront series from THQ during their bankruptcy auction last year. This will be the first Homefront title not to come from the now defunct studio.
