Batman: Arkham Knight Delayed ‘Till 2015

This is news that I’d truly rather not be reporting, as my most anticipated title of 2014 now will be delayed until after the new year. Serious bummer.

However, I have to put my journalistic hat on here and acknowledge the fact that if the developer thinks it’s appropriate it’s probably for the best. I, like many fans, would rather see a game done right than pushed out the door just to make a quarterly release date. I say kudos to any developer willing to push back against such deadlines, in order to maintain an acceptable level of quality that a franchise such as this deserves.

Rocksteady Marketing Manager Guy Perkins echoed this sentiment in a recent interview, reveling that a commitment to bringing the best experience possible to the next-gen was their primary motivation. “We just want to make this the best…and that takes time. We feel that we have an absolutely awesome game in the works, and we want to make it as great as it possibly can be. We just need more time to do that. If we didn’t give the team more time to do it, then we would be releasing something that we weren’t happy with. We want to make sure we’re absolutely nailing it 100 percent.” Said Perkins.

While he didn’t give specifics as to exactly what part of the game was holding them up, the scale is obviously much larger than previous iterations. With the next-gen Gotham clocking in at five-times the size we’ve previously seen (not to mention the new Batmobile play mechanic), they clearly have a lot on their plate.

We’ll bring you more once a firm release date has been pinned down for 2015.
