Eurogamer has uncovered quite the hilarious easter egg in Ubisoft’s new Watch_Dogs . Partway through the game Aiden Pearce can spy on someone through his “klnekt” motion capture device. This pulls up a video of someone ranting, shouting at his screen, throwing his controller, and generally raging, as we tend to see FPS obsessives do.
Now to explain the joke. This is poking fun at security concerns over the Xbox One’s always on Kinect. Microsoft’s devotion to the device, and the fact that the device would always be on, recording your every word, has raised a few security concerns with the greater populace. In fact, it has made it so that the console can’t even be taken on military bases, lest sensitive information possibly leak out.
Microsoft has since let up, allowing players to disconnect their Kinects and even offering versions of the console without the Kinect included. However, the security concerns are still fresh in the minds of gamers everywhere. At least this video proves that the only thing Microsoft would be able to eavesdrop on, are our stupid immature rants about spawn campers.
