As reported by Eurogamer on Tuesday, June 3, US president Barack Obama paid a visit to Poland recently, and in a speech he gave praise to CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 2 as an example of the country’s growing economy and influence.
When he last visited the country back in 2011, Obama was gifted a copy of the Collector’s Edition of The Witcher 2 by the Poland’s prime minister, Donald Tusk.
” The last time I was here, Donald gave me a gift, ” Obama said, ” the video game developed here in Poland that’s won fans the world over, The Witcher.
I confess, I’m not very good at video games, ” he then added, “ but I’ve been told that it is a great example of Poland’s place in the new global economy and it’s a tribute to the talents and the work ethic of the Polish people, as well as the wise stewardship of Polish leaders, like prime minister Tusk. ”
No doubt this will give CD Projekt a big confidence boost, especially when it is due to showcase The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt at this year’s E3 next week.
During CD Projekt RED’s presentation explaining why The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be delayed until February 2015 , the studio listed off plans of what it has for later on this year. One of these plans was for the studio to be working on a comic series, for both paper and digital release, set within the Witcher universe.
The first issue of this comic series was released back in March. Furthermore, CD Projekt RED and GoG have teamed up to invite you to a special Summer Conference and livestream event on Thursday, June 5 at 11am PST.
