As revealed in a video on Sunset Overdrive’s official YouTube channel on Friday, June 20, the game’s developer Insomniac Games has announced that the upcoming Xbox One-exclusive will allow you to play as a female character if you so desire.
” Of course. Self-expression is super important to us, ” Insomniac Games community manager Brandon Winfrey stated in the video. ” So you can be female, you can be male, you can be different skin tones, you can be different body types. ”
Additionally, Winfrey also noted that you’ll be able to dress yourself in Sunset Overdrive as much as you’d like, as the game will allow you to play as a gender-neutral character.
” So if you want to be a dude in a skirt, you can be a dude in a skirt. Just be who you want to be, ” Winfrey added.
Briefly featured during the video, Sunset Overdrive’s female character is donned in clothing strikingly similar to that of the attire for an assassin from Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series. No doubt this is a shot fired at Ubisoft’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed title, Assassin’s Creed Unity , for not featuring playable female characters .

Insomniac Games explained its Xbox One exclusivity back in May, saying that the developer ultimately went with Microsoft for publishing because the company allowed for the studio to keep its Intellectual Property of the title.
