Ubisoft is Trying not to Delay Assassin’s Creed Unity on PC

As reported by Rock, Paper, Shotgun on Monday, June 23, Assassin’s Creed developer Ubisoft has declared that it will endeavour to try not to delay the PC release of the latest addition to the Assassin’s Creed series, Assassin’s Creed Unity .

While this may seem like nothing more that an automatic statement, as PC releases from Ubisoft have regularly been later than their counterpart console releases, the developer assures that Assassin’s Creed Unity will release on consoles as well as on PC at the same time.

We’re always aiming to ship all our games on all platforms at the same time, ” Ubisoft’s producer Lesley Phord-Toy told Rock, Paper, Shotgun. “ I don’t have any specific news on the PC version of Assassin’s Creed Unity , but I do know we’re planning on shipping on all three [platforms]: Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. I haven’t heard any news differently than that.

When asked about the frequent delays of PC releases from Ubisoft, specifically regarding Assassin’s Creed , Phord-Toy offered her perspective of insight as being the the producer of Assassin’s Creed IV .

It can be challenging, ” she said. “ PC has a variety of different hardware configurations that you can’t necessarily predict. On a console you know what’s in the box. Every customer has the same configuration for the most part, and first-parties push firmware updates so everyone has what you’re expecting to have. PCs are nowhere near as consistent. So it can be extremely challenging to try and support as many of those permutations as possible.

Like I said, ” she continued, “ [Ubisoft] has been very successful at achieving same-ship in the recent past, so we’re very confident that we’ll be able to do the same for Assassin’s Creed Unity .

Assassin’s Creed Unity has recently become the subject of controversy, as it was revealed that you won’t be able to play as a female character throughout the game. Ubisoft’s explanation for this decision, delivered as “ realities of production ”, was soon called out by a former employee , who chastised the developer for its reasoning.
