Could Activision have dethroned themselves? Possibly. According to a report from Cowen and Company, analyst Doug Creutz says that Destiny could likely become the bestselling game of 2014. It has currently had more pre-orders than Call of Duty has, and according to the “ordometer” which tracks past game sales and pre-orders from major retailers, Call of Duty isn’t even in the top 3 most desired video games out there.
Destiny is easily the most desired game, however the results could be skewed a bit. Activision has been advertising that players who pre-order the game will be able to get in on the beta, which artificially pushes pre-order totals up. However, considering this, both Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Assassin’s Creed Unity are both more in desire than Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare . Perhaps the age of the military shooter really is over.
