Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Unity has recently become the subject of controversy, as it was revealed that you won’t be able to play as a female character throughout the game. Ubisoft’s explanation for this decision, delivered as “realities of production”, was soon called out by a former employee, who chastised the developer for its reasoning.
The story has struck like wildfire so much that Insomniac Games’ female character for Sunset Overdrive dons an attire that’s strikingly similar that featured in earlier Assassin’s Creed games, no doubt added in response to Assassin’s Creed Unity.
Despite this, creative director Alex Hutchinson has reassured everyone that the upcoming addition to the FarCry series, FarCry 4, will be “packed to the gills with woman.”
In an interview with OutsideXbox, Hutchinson made a point of ensuring that women will fill many prominent roles in FarCry 4, including alongside the game’s antagonists.
"We tried very hard to make sure that of the four main antagonists, half of them are women, which is cool," he said. "On your side, one of the main leaders of the rebel faction is a woman, half the rebels that fight with you are women. It's packed to the gills with women. They're everywhere, just like life."
