Oculus Rift Conference Announced, Pre-Orders Canceled

Oculus Rift Conference Announced, Pre-Orders Canceled

Everyone here at CheatCC hopes you had a great holiday weekend, one that was filled with several new happenings surrounding the ever-popular Oculus Rift.

First, we received news that a new developer’s conference has recently been announced. Dubbed “Oculus Connect,” its purpose is to bolster the creative juices of those talented designers and craftsman in order to harness the full potential of the new VR tech moving forward. Via the official blog, they hope the event will “… bring together engineers, designers, and creative from around the world to share and collaborate in the interest of creating the best virtual reality experiences possible…Oculus Connect 2014 takes place Sept 19 – 20 at the Loews Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles, CA. Attendee applications will be available on the Oculus Connect website, www.oculusvr.com/connect .”

However (on a more negative note) the company also reports that some overseas pre-orders have been canceled. Apparently, the dev kits were being bought up in bulk with the intent of reselling them at absorbingly high prices. A reddit post states “… it is a bummer that we’ve had to suspend sales in China due to extreme reseller purchases. We need to make sure that we are doing what we can to make sure that resellers that are looking to flip our product for a profit…If you are an enthusiast, we kindly ask that you wait for the consumer Rift. It will be worth the wait.”

We’ll bring you more, as the evolution of this exciting new gaming innovation continues to steam onward.
