Call of Duty Dev Talks Improved Audio

Call of Duty Dev Talks Improved Audio

While most gamers focus on the upgraded graphics or revamped game types in an FPS sequel, some may forget that sounds are often times as important as the sights!

Don Veca (who is Sledgehammer’s audio director on the project) recently touted that “…Right off the bat, one of the things I think gamers are going to notice is the huge improvement to the weapons,” and that the sound will feel like it’s traveling “…right through your body.”

Based on the footage we’ve seen coming out of E3, it’s obvious that Advanced Warfare will bring a very different take to the legendary franchise of Call of Duty . While their roots are figuratively rooted in the future (leaning toward a strong sci-fi element), Veca states they intended to use the audio as a way of keeping things familiar for hardcore fans. “It’s a futuristic setting, but we want it to be believable. We would always start with something grounded and add new sounds that we created ourselves, mix it in, layer things; so that you come up with something truly unique.”

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare hits stores on November 4 th for the Xbox, PlayStation and PC.
