As detailed in a press release published on Wednesday, July 9, Secret Bases make a comeback in the third generation Pokémon remakes, Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire , and you’ll also be able to manage your own Gym as.
Secret Bases, renamed to “Super Secret Bases”, will be a customizable area that will allow for you to show off your individuality. If you’re expecting unwanted visitors, you can kit out your Base with mazes and traps, and you’ll also be able to create your own house-rules for pokémon battles, which in turn transforms your Secret Base into your very own pokémon Gym.
Furthermore, you’ll be able to share your Secret Base to other Pokémon players via the 3DS’ StreetPass functionality, or by creating a QR code of the Base to be scanned by friends.
When visiting other Bases, you can meet other players and in their own Bases, and you’ll also be able to invite them back to yours as a Secret Pal if you so desire.
You’ll be able to interact and battle with your Secret Pals, and in turn you will receive special skills that can support you in your adventures, such as sharing new Decorations, making an Egg hatch faster, or raising the level of a selected pokémon by one. In short, the more Secret Pals you have in your Secret Base, the more special skills you’ll receive to help you in your adventure.
Additionally, you can capture flags while visiting other players’ Secret Bases, which are located beside the Secret PC in each Base. The more flags you capture, the higher the rank you’ll earn, which in itself offers rewards like improving upon the skills received from Secret Pals.
