Heavenly Sword receives Movie Adaptation in September

Heavenly Sword receives Movie Adaptation in September

As detailed in a press release published on Friday, July 11, the movie adaptation for 2007’s PlayStation 3-exclusive Heavenly Sword has been given a release date for Tuesday, September 2.

Arriving on Blu-ray, DVD and digital download, the movie adaptation will be an action-packed CG animation based on the game of the same name. Furthermore, the movie adaptation is said to boast an all-star voice cast, which include Anna Torv (“Fringe”), Alfred Molina ( Spider-man 2 , Chocolate ) and Thomas Jane (“Hung,” The Mist ).

A dramatic tale of revenge, Heavenly Sword centers around the game’s main character, Nariko (who’ll be voiced by Torv). A trained warrior with red hair, Nariko wields a heavily sought after blade that’s said to hold incredible powers.

As the sword’s guardian, Nariko must fight a megalomaniacal ruler, named King Bohan (voiced by Molina), and his unyielding army, who are determined to obtain the blade for their own manipulation.

The Blu-ray and DVD versions of the movie are both packed with bonus footage, which includes behind-the-scenes interviews with the cast and filmmakers. What’s more, the movie will also be available on the Sony PlayStation Network.

Nariko’s clan has long protected the ‘ Heavenly Sword ’, a god’s blade of immense power that drains its wielder of their life force, ” the movie’s plot synopsis reads, as detailed in the press release. “ A power-hungry ruler known as the evil King Bohan seeks to obtain the sword to gain its devastating power. As the impending apocalypse nears, it remains to be seen how long Nariko can resist the sword’s deadly curse.

The Blu-ray and DVD versions of Heavenly Sword will sell for $19.97 and $14.93 respectively, or your regional equivalent. The movie is also said to last 85 minutes.

We’ll bring you more news on any more videogame movie adaptations should further information reach our ears.
