Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire trailer shows Gyms Leaders and More

As reported by Nintendo Life on Monday, July 14, The Pokémon Company International has released a new trailer for the third-gen remakes Pokémon games, Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire , showing off the remade gym leaders of the original Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire and more.

Quite a fair amount falls under that “more” category, including the reveal of a new Mega Evolution. Mega Metagross, who’ll be patterned with the returning champion Steven, will retain its Steel-Psychic typing and gain a new ability called “Tough Claws”, which powers up physical-based attacks in addition to an increase in speed.

Pokémon Amie, which was originally introduced in Pokémon X and Y , has also been confirmed to be returning to the third-gen remakes, which is a Nintendogs -like feature that’ll allow for you to bond with your pokémon and increase their friendship with you. Doing this will enable your pokémon to gain increased effectiveness in battle, such as increased critical hit ratio and a greater ability to evade incoming attacks.

Furthermore, as an entirely new addition to Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire , a feature called “Cosplay Pikachu” will allow for you to dress the franchise’s mascot, Pikachu, in various attire. The feature itself is related to the return of Pokémon Contests, according to Nintendo Life, but nothing more specific about the new feature was detailed.

Lastly, some details were also revealed regarding the third-gen remakes’ story, which pretty much starts off how it originally did in Ruby and Sapphire . Needless to say, your adventure starts by receiving a pokémon and a Pokédex from Professor Birch, and you continue on your journey around Hoenn (the games’ region), challenging and defeating all eight gym leaders as you go, until eventually you reach the Elite Four and the Pokémon Champion.

What’s more, many of the gym leaders featured in the original games are said to make a return, including Norman, you’re in-game father, as well as Roxanne, Brawly, Wattson and Flannery. Sidney and Phoebe will also be returning as members of the Elite Four.

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire will launch in the US on Friday, November 21 . A European release is slated for the following week on Friday, November 28.
