Thorn is a tall, thin elf-like warrior who was one of the first Eldrid settlers to land on Ekkunar, Solus’ most hospitable planet. She can jump much higher than other characters in Battleborn , according to Game Informer, but her speed and agility come at a cost; she doesn’t have a shield.

As for her abilities, Thron’s “Volly” ability unleashes five arrows simultaneously in a horizontal spread, all of which are said to deal extra damage. The ability is most particularly useful in close combat, as all five arrows could potentially hit one target, which can deal fatal damage unto the recipient.

“Blight” creates a mystical symbol on the ground that damages and slows down enemies that step into it, and “Dark Curse” (Thorns passive ability) gives her arrows dark energy that causes them to deal even extra damage to enemies. “Apex Predator” summons a ghostly scalewolf to maul Thorn’s enemies, and the ability’s duration can be increased by first cursing an enemy with her arrows.

Despite Montana’s imposing build, he is touted to be the most cheerful character in Battleborn . According to Game Informer, Gearbox described Montana as a bleeding heart who always has something encouraging to say to his teammates.

Montana’s “Lumberjack Dash” allows for him to race forward in a straight line, which mitigates his slow movement speed for whenever he needs to get somewhere quick. Enemies on the receiving end of Lumberjack Dash are injured and knocked back.

“Hailstorm” loads Montana’s gatling gun with ammunition that slows down enemies when struck, and it also slows down the amount of time it takes for his giv to overheat. His passive ability, “No Heat, No Damage”, increases the amount of damage Montana’s gun deals when it heats up, and it also–depending on which level upgrades–grants him health regeneration based on the temperature of the gun. “Mansformation”, as well as temporarily reducing the amount of damage he can take, launches Montana across the map towards a target, knocking said target back as well as any nearby enemies as well.

Lastly, Reyna is as closest thing the Rogues faction have towards an official commander, and she plays a similar role on the battlefield. She also has the ability to buff teammates and debuff enemies.

Reyna’s “Overwatch” ability emits a charge from ger Command Glove that automatically targets a nearby teammate and encapsulates them in an overshield. Her “Priority Target” ability is similar to Overwatch, but this ability sends out a charge that only seeks out a nearby enemy. Once said enemy is hit, a percentage of all the damage dealt to them will bypass their shield for a short period of time and deal damage to them directly.

“Rally The Troops”, Reyna’s passive ability, increases her movement speed for every pistol shot that lands on an enemy. It also stacks up and buffs nearby teammates, too. Finally, “Nick Of Time” allows for Reyna to instantly warp to any ally’s location.

Gearbox has acknowledged developing Battleborn will be an uphill battle, as there are already some big players in the MOBA scene, such as Dota 2 and League of Legends . The studio’s president Randy Pitchford proclaimed that the studio is undaunted by the challenge .

We’ll bring you more news on Battleborn’s development should further information reach our ears.
