As reported by The Verge o n Monday, July 21, it has been revealed that Half-Life developer Valve had once been working on an ambitious titled named “ Prospero ”, which was meant to be a story-driven, third-person MMO, but the project was ultimately scrapped.
Outline in a video produced by ValveTime, a forum dedicated to all things Valve-related, Valve employees offered insight to the the development of Prospero , and how it became the studio’s first cancelled game as resources were shifted to the development of Half-Life .
Complete with never-before-seen screenshots, the video, entitled “ Prospero – Database: Episode 3 ”, goes into detail about Prospero’s origins, and how the knowledge gained from its cancelled development was later used in Valve’s other projects, such as the Half-Life and Portal series.
