Of all the games that were shown off at E3 only a few of them didn’t even have release windows. Star Wars: Battlefront was one of these games, with EA not even giving us the ballpark release date of 2015. Why? Well according to a recent conference call with investors, EA executive vice president Patrick Soderlund said that they are aiming for a release that coincides with the new movie. Since the newest Star Wars movie is scheduled for a December 18 th , 2015 release, which means we are looking at a late 2015, early 2016 release for Battlefront most likely.
“What we’re building is more rooted in the traditional Star Wars universe and not so much necessarily linked to the movies being made,” Soderlund said. “And that’s just because we wanted to make a game that celebrated the history of Star Wars .”
He added: “Obviously there will be things in there that are somewhat tied to the new movie. I wouldn’t say that we have a particular tie to the movie. Now, obviously we would prefer to be close to the movie, but I wouldn’t say that we’re directly tied to it.”
