According to GamesBeat, the rumor that Google will buy Twitch has been confirmed. For those of you who missed the original rumor, YouTube, a subsidiary of Google, was apparently going to buy Twitch.TV for a whopping one billion dollars. This was supposedly the highest bid among several offers from high profile companies, Microsoft being one of the other interested parties.
While none of the details, like the price or Microsoft’s own interest in the deal, have been confirmed, Gamesbeat has said that they have confirmed that Google will, indeed, be purchasing Twitch. Their source is someone “familiar with the matter.” Both Google and Twitch have declined to comment on the offer as of yet.
