Pokémon World Championship to be Streamed in August

As detailed in a press release published on Monday, July 28, the Pokémon Company International has officially launched its 2014 Pokémon World Championship website . What’s more, the event itself will be taking place in mid-August.

What’s more, the tournament will be streamed live on the official Pokémon Twitch channel on Saturday, August 17 through to Sunday, August 17.

Pokémon TCG and video game matches will be hosted that Sturday, and the the final matches of all three divisions –Junior, Senior and Masters– (six matches in total) will take place on that Sunday. Participating players from more than 30 countries worldwide will be battling for scholarships, prizes and the title of Pokémon World Champion.

Below is a full schedule of the event that’ll be taking place in Washington, DC.

Saturday, August 16

  • 14:00 BST – Opening Ceremony

  • 14:30 BST – 22:00 BST – Pokémon Video Game Streaming

  • 22:00 BST – 1:00 BST – Pokémon TCG Streaming

Sunday, August 17

  • 14:00 BST – TCG Masters top 4

  • 14:30 BST – 20:00 BST – Pokémon TCG Finals (Junior, Senior, and Masters Divisions)

  • 20:00 BST – 23:00 BST – Pokémon Video Game Finals (Junior, Senior, and Masters Divisions)

  • 23:00 BST – Closing Ceremony

Back in May, we established that the victors of Europe’s Pokémon National Championships qualifiers will be on their way to Washington to enter the Pokémon World Championships. The European qualifiers now have the opportunity to battle against some of the best Pokémon players from more than 30 countries around the world,  including North America, South America, Australia, Africa, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, and across Europe.
