World of Warcraft Loses 800,000 Subscribers

World of Warcraft is very slowly winding down as its time in the spotlight comes to a close and the age of MMO’s starts to darken. As of June 30 th , the game reported 6.8 million subscribers. The last time we heard from the game, it was hosting 7.6 million subscribers back in March. All of these totals are a mere fraction of what WoW had in it’s heyday, over 12 million subscribers.

That being said, WoW is still one of the most played MMOs to date. In fact, revenue from the game is up, and it still routinely brings in billions, yes, billions of dollars. It’s competitors also top out at about 2 million subscribers, at best. So as long as MMOs continue to be a thing, it appears as if WoW will stay on the throne, dying a slow and prolonged death.
