Destiny’s Beta Progress Won’t Carry Over to Final Version

Destiny’s Beta Progress Won’t Carry Over to Final Version

The Beta for Bungie’s Destiny is now done and dusted, and with great success, too, with over 4.6 million players logged . Unfortunately, however, it seems that all the accumulated progress for each individual player who participated in the Beta will not carry over to the final version of the game.

In a weekly update over on Bungie’s official website on Friday, August 8, it was sympathetically confirmed that “ Beta characters won’t transfer to the final version of Destiny . ” No doubt this’ll be a be a bummer for some players who put hours upon hours into the game’s Beta.

“What you just experienced is something we’ve been through countless times here at Bungie. We feel your pain, and then some. Making a game requires iteration and progress. When we reinvent the world where the Guardians live, sometimes we have to leave them behind, ” Bungie wrote in its update.

Bungie’s Tyson Green, a designer behind Destiny , took a moment to fully explain why player progress and characters won’t carry over when the game fully launches.

Since the Beta, we’ve continued to tune and adjust the game. The way you earn experience has been adjusted up and down a bunch of times. Items have been added and removed, ” Green wrote. “ New features toggled. Although there’s no single monumental change, the sum of the tweaks leaves characters from the Beta Build in strange shape that would be confusing at best, broken at worst.

We’ll bring you more news on Destiny should further information reach our ears.
