Persona 4 Arena ’s Lobby Mode is way unlike anything else you have ever seen in a fighting game before. Usually, you just connect to a room and your name is shown in a list of other players, where you wait patiently for your turn. However, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax actually puts you into a virtual arcade. Machines will be set up all around the room, and player avatars can be seen playing at arcade stations. To spectate a game, you can walk up to that character and look over their shoulder. You can also reserve a spot in a queue in order to get a match yourself.
The other big plus of this new lobby system is that it allows far more players to connect than ever before. There can now be up to 32 players in a lobby and they can all player each other at once! That’s more than any other fighting game that has been out on the market so far. You can also request private matches, reserve stations, and even hold tournaments. It’s quite the amazing system and we hope other fighting games follow in P4A’s footsteps.
