Don Mattrick’s 2008 Statement and Sales Connections Make PS4 Console War “Winner”

Don Mattrick’s 2008 Statement and Sales Connections Make PS4 Console War “Winner”

As reported by NowGamer on Wednesday, August 13, a humorous connection has been made with what the previous head of Microsoft’s Xbox division, Don Mattrick, said regarding Sony’s PlayStation 4 winning the console war back in 2008.

To date, Sony has announced that it has sold 10 million PlayStation 4 consoles around the world, while Microsoft has only sold 5 million Xbox One consoles worldwide. In fact, while the Xbox One is making money for Microsoft, it’s also caused the company to have lost $400 million since its launch in November, 2013.

According to NowGamer, Don Mattrick made a statement back in May, 2008 regarding the sales of Microsoft’s Xbox 360, claiming that the 10 million consoles sold in the US at the time was a sign of Microsoft coming out on top as the victor.

History has shown us that the first company to reach 10 million in console sales wins the generation battle, ” Mattrick said at the time. ” We are uniquely positioned to set a new benchmark for the industry.

With that statement in mind, now with Sony’s PlayStation 4 has effectively won the current-gen console war already, as 10 million PlayStation 4 consoles have been sold worldwide.

As it’s not yet been a year since either console has been circulating, it’s well and truly probable that the “winner” of the console war is still up in the air at this time. Still, it’s an interesting connection to make nonetheless.

We’ve established that, even with the removal of the Kinect, the Xbox One in still lagging behind Sony’s PlayStation 4 in terms of sales. We’ll bring you more PlayStation 4-related news should further information reach our ears.
