Microsoft’s Phil Spencer has, unfortunately, revealed that we won’t be hearing much more about the new Crackdown game until next year. “Probably no Crackdown news for the rest of 2014,” he said on Twitter. “Team is making progress but they need time before we show anything again.” As it stands, details about the new game are light. Our own preview could only comment on the trailers we were shown, along with details given to us by Microsoft reps.
Microsoft doesn’t really want fans to treat this game like Crackdown 3 . They have stated that this is more of a sequel to Crackdown 1 , but existing in another timeline than Crackdown 2 . The game will offer a co-op campaign, online multiplayer, destructible environments, customizable characters, and a number of interesting superpowers to toy around with. The game is slated for release on the Xbox One, but an official release date has not yet been given.
