Bungie Touts Destiny Unbeatable Without Aid

Bungie Touts Destiny Unbeatable Without Aid

Have the mad-scientists at Bungie deviously crafted an epic so massive, there is no way the average gamer will be able to make it through without first looing up some kind of walkthrough?

That’s what lead designer Luke Smith thinks! In comments recently posted to their official blog, Smith states, “For the majority of Raid encounters, you’re going to need to work as a group. That group of six is trying to form a metaphorical key which opens a given encounter’s lock. By design, we don’t provide much in the way of information to groups in Raids. There aren’t waypoints to follow, or objectives explaining what to do in a given situation. Realistically, for many players, they’ll be turning to the Internet for help…”

With Bungie introducing an MMO element into its sci-fi shooter, some players must learn the skill of acquiring “ loot ” after each raid (think of it as the spoils of victory). Smith also reveals that, as is the case with many aspects of the experience, what you collect is exclusive to each individual character (meaning you could theoretically run the same raid over and over multiple times. “The loot you get is private to you – just like the rest of the game. Obtaining loot from a given encounter means that character is not eligible to receive loot from the same encounter again in a given calendar week…if you have multiple Raid-ready characters, you can run the Raid again on a different character – and the Lockout isn’t applied to it.”

Destiny ’s release draws ever closer, as it hits both Xbox and PlayStation consoles on September 9 th .
