Game Developers Sign Open Letter To End Hate, Harassment, and Toxic Behavior

With the harassment of Phil Fish, Zoe Quinn, Anita Sarkeesian, and the recent spread of “swatting” a practice in which fake murder and bomb threats are called in to police departments in order to get them to come to a live-streamers house and beat them up/arrest them, many game developers have had enough. The amount of childish harassment that happens in the gaming community is just too much. As such, independent games designer Andreas Zecher has written an open letter to the gaming community, asking them to stop the hatred, bigotry, and harassment, and asking them to embrace diversity and tolerance.

The letter has been signed by people from Rockstar North, Naughty Dog, Bungie, 343 Industries, Blizzard Entertainment, Epic Games, Bioware, Riot Games, Ubisoft, EA, Microsoft, Twitch, DICE, Telltale, and many many others including independent game developers, testers, publishers, and more. Over 2000 members of the gaming industry have signed the letter as of the time of writing this article.

So… the creators of the games you like so much want you to stop. Is that enough to convince you to maybe tone the harassment down a bit?
