Arc System Works has recently revealed a brand new Guilty Gear Xrd character, Elphelt. This strange woman in a wedding dress with spiked armor carrying guns is a new take on a fighting game character. Specifically, she is an attempt to put shooter mechanics into fighting games.
Elphelt can change guns over the course of a match. When equipping a shotgun, her actions are quick, powerful, and combo easily. The closer she is to the opponent the more damage she does, allowing her to combo effectively. When equipping a rifle, however, her actions become slow but get a lot of range to them, essentially allowing her to attack from a full screen away and allowing her to become a zoner. Here, she gains bonus damage the more accurate she is when aiming at the opponent.
Elphelt will have a lot of other shooter style mechanics as well. She will be able to reload with special abilities, aim down sights to increase her damage, and more. All of these abilities will allow her to attack quicker and stronger.
