Excavated E.T. Copies To Be Sold at Auction

Microsoft recently produced a documentary on the creation of E.T. for the Atari 2600, the worst video game of all time. As part of the documentary, teams went to the landfill where tons of E.T. copies were buried in Alamogordo, New Mexico and dug the site up. Over 800 copies of the game were found, and now they will be sold off in auction. The games will be sold both on eBay and on Alamogordo’s official website.

The 800 games are currently housed at the New Mexico Museum of Space History, so you will basically be getting a former museum piece if you pick one of these up.

Aside from the games sold at auction, Alamogordo will keep about five hundred of them, and the rest will be given away to museums.
