Oculus CEO Donates 31 Million Dollars to University of Maryland

Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe is doing quite a bit with the money he got after Facebook’s purchasing of Oculus VR. He has recently donated thirty one million dollars to his alma matter, the University of Maryland. The money will go toward the construction of the Brendan Iribe Center for Computer Science and Innovation. Another one million dollars will fund a Brendan Iribe Scholarship program for Computer Science.

The Iribe center will be specialized specifically for research into virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, robots, computer vision, and human interaction. “I’ve always wanted to give back to the school and public education system, and I hope this building will shape the future of computer science students at the university,” Iribe said in a statement. “The space is designed for hackers, makers, and engineers, which will help give rise to future breakthroughs, products, and startups that will transform the way we live and interact with the world around us.
