PlayStation Store Taken Out of the PSP

PlayStation Store Taken Out of the PSP

Sony is going to remove access to the PlayStation Store in several territories. According to a report on IGN, the ability to access the PS Store will be removes from PSPs in Europe, Oceania, Asia, and parts of Africa. As it currently stands, North American PSP users will not be affected, but Sony is still evaluating the store’s tenability in that region.

The move will only remove the PlayStation store from the PSP as an app. The games that users have purchased from the PS Store will remain purchased. So users can actually purchase PSP games via the PS3, PS4, PS Vita, or even the PlayStation Store in your browser. You can then download them to your PSP via your download list. You just can’t buy direct from the PSP anymore.

This was a needed move considering PSP games can still be played on the PS Vita, and the PS Vita needs as much support as it can get. This will likely draw some PSP users to Sony’s new handheld.
