Someone’s Making and Selling Xbox One Laptops

Here’s something you don’t see everyday: someone is currently making and selling what are essentially Xbox One laptops. Self-professed hacker and prototyper Edward Zarick has gone through the trouble of customizing the base model of an Xbox One and transforming it into something a bit more portable.

It’s not the first time Zarick has done something like this; in the past he has also made Xbox 360 laptops, which he refers to as “Xbook 360s”. The Xbox One laptop follows the same naming convention, and is referred to as an “Xbook One”. The Xbook One is one of Zarick’s first Xbox One laptops, and he believes he has made around 30 Xbook 360s.

It was only a matter of time until I got around to making a XBOOK ONE! For those of you not familiar with my previous work on xbox laptops, I call them XBOOKs, ” Zarick wrote on his own website. “ I made quite a few of the XBOOK 360s over the last couple years, probably around 30 of them. But the xbox 360 is old news… out with the old, in with the new! So I now announce the XBOOK ONE! One of the first Xbox One Laptops. Hope you like it as much as I do!

The processing in making the Xbook One came about a couple of months ago when Zarick decided to dismantle his Xbox One in favor of transforming it into a laptop. Before getting stuck into the project, Zarick wanted the new Xbook One to be “ cleaner, thinner, easier to build, and more over all more cool.

The finished Xbook One boasted a 22” 1080p LED LCD monitor, which one-ups the 19” 720p monitor featured on the Xbook 360. Because Zarick chose a bigger screen, he also managed to shave the Xbox One down to make it .25” thinner as a result. As it currently stands, Zarick will be providing Xbook Ones with 500Gb of storage.

If you’re interested in buying on, it’ll cost you a pretty penny: $1,095 is the lowest price for an Xbook One, and that’s if you provide Zarick with your own Xbox One. Other variations of the Xbook One allow for you to choose an accompanying Kinect or not, with the end price raised or lowered respectively. There’s even an option to include an HDMI Out at an extra cost, too. Shipping is also an extra cost. A breakdown of Zarick’s pricing has been listed below.

  • XBOOK ONE 500GB with Kinect – $1,495.00

  • XBOOK ONE 500GB w/o Kinect – $1,395.00

  • XBOOK ONE (You provide xbox one) – 1,095.00

  • to include HDMI Out   –  $50.00

  • Flat Rate Shipping of $75.00 to 48 US States Please contact me first if your international or at a APO or similar.

You can order your own Xbook One via PayPal through Zarick’s own website, and it’ll take two-to-three weeks to complete. If you like, you can also choose what kind of color your Xbook One can have around its corners: black, red, yellow, blue, green, copper, silver, grey, orange, white, purple, pink, and more (Zarick is open to color suggestions).
