After years of speculation, the long rumored spin-off featuring everyone’s favorite Merc with a Mouth seems to be finally happening!
It was announced this week that FOX has officially given the go head for an honest to goodness Deadpool movie starring Ryan Reynolds. This new found support from the studio comes after the internet blew up over a small piece of test footage (shot several years ago but only recently uncovered) made its way online. It was immediately pulled soon after, but the effects remained. It clearly illustrated fan’s desire to see this project move forward.
Ryan Reynolds recently commented on the positive feedback, stating there was an “…overpowering reaction to the footage, you sort of feel like, ‘Oh, so we weren’t crazy for our reasons for loving this character, for loving this role.’ It’s interesting to see the power of the Internet. It’s awe-inspiring, actually…”
The Deadpool film is set for a February 12 th , 2016 release (with Tim Miller set to direct).
