Capcom Announces Ultra Street Fighter IV Omega

Capcom Announces Ultra Street Fighter IV Omega

A new free update is coming to Ultra Street Fighter IV called Omega Mode. This update will give every character on the roster a new option in the version select menu. Omega versions of characters will have completely new moves, completely new normals, completely new properties, and more.

There’s just one hitch, though. Capcom is making no attempt whatsoever to balance this mode. It’s meant for fun, and for fun only. Certain characters will be getting older moves, like Chun-Li’s third strike super arts. Other characters will be completely overhauled, like Zangief, who can now combo into throws. Capcom says that this mode will not at all be tournament balanced and will not be using it in the Capcom Pro tour.

It’s a shame that the new mode won’t be balanced, but it’s always nice to see something done for fun. Some fans have guessed that this is going to be a test for possible Street Fighter V mechanics, but that is wild speculation at best. Can’t blame the community for hoping, though.
