Something strange has just been found in the 3DS version of Super Smash Brothers . There is a chant that occurs under very, very strict circumstances. If you kill two doctor Mario’s at 100% with the home run bat at the same time, you will hear the crowd chant “NANA, POPO!” over and over again. For those of you who don’t know, Nana and Popo are the names of the Ice Climbers.
This only seems to happen in the Japanese version of the game. Reports have said that the U.S. version only grants you the standard “villager” chant under those circumstances.
Right now it’s not clear whether this is a glitch or a purposeful Easter Egg. We do know that series creator Sakurai wanted to add the Ice Climbers into the game but could not do so due to technical limitations.
