Microsoft’s Next-Gen Console Arrives in China

Microsoft’s Next-Gen Console Arrives in China

While the Xbox One may have hit store shelves around this time last year in the U.S. and other European markets, the far-east wasn’t even a blip on most marketing analysis’ radars.

However, times have changed. After almost 15 years, the country of China has lifted its console ban, ushering in a new-age of Xbox. The folks at the Xbox Wire touted it’s release today, stating it is available in “…4,000 retail locations in 37 cities throughout the People’s Republic of China, gamers and families throughout the country now have access to some of the best games and entertainment experiences spanning racing, sports, fitness, dance and adventure with music, karaoke, entertainment, social and more app experiences to come.”

Xbox Head Phil Spencer was on hand for the momentous occasion, stating the milestone is “…significant for both our partnership with China and our global expansion plan. Every new market launch is unique and we’re grateful to our fans for their patience and enthusiasm. We will continue to work closely with our partner BesTV to bring exciting games, entertainment and app experiences to delight gamers across China.”

The Xbox one continues to struggler here domestically, so we’ll keep you posted regarding how it fairs in this new uncharted territory.
