In what has stirred up quite a bit of controversy among both die-hard Thor fanatics, the news that a female would be stepping into the Thunder God’s roll has certainly been received with a mixed reception.
It now appears that, in addition to the traditional action we’re accustomed to in a Marvel comic, the new run will serve as “whodunit” of sorts. The identity of the shadowy figure will remain shrouded in mystery, one the original Thor will seek to unravel.
“The Odinson, the previous version of Thor, he’s going to look at all the women around him and start to try to figure out which one of them is running around with his hammer. It’s a suspect list that’s going to include his mother, Freyja, who plays a big role in the first issue; Roz Solomon, who is Thor’s new love interest and also a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent; his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster; and Sif who is a big part of the movies.” Said God of Thunder writer Jason Aaron in a recent interview.
Also, in the image above, you’ll note Odin’s famous words now sport a slightly different inscription on the side of the hammer (look closely for the “she” revision).
