Modder Invents Gamecube Controller Adapter For the 3DS

Anyone who has been trying to play Smash Bros. on the 3DS knows that the 3DS controls just don’t cut it. Not only are the L and R buttons really hard to access and use effectively for blocking and grabbing, but the circle pad just doesn’t hold up to repeated smashing and the face buttons are too close together. Smash was really meant to be played with a Gamecube Controller and thus, a modder has designed a way to connect a Gamecube controller to your 3DS.

The mod, however, is very junkyard in design. It involves an exposed circuit board attached to the back of the 3DS, a soldered Gamecube connection wire, and a couple stray wires sticking off the board. Of course, if this catches on you can probably get an extra plastic shell to house the circuit board, much like 3DS capture cards.

That being said, the mod does translate controls directly over, so it works with any game. However, this also means that the c-Stick doesn’t work the way it should so don’t expect this to work for c-Stick smashes.
