Xbox One Could Run Next Windows OS Apps in 2015

Word has come around that apps compatible with the next Windows operating system, Windows 10, may be shipping to the Xbox One sometime next year, as said apps are aimed to run across a wide range of products.

A nod to this possibility was implied in Microsoft’s announcement of Windows 10, although the Xbox One itself wasn’t outright stated.

Windows 10 will run across an incredibly broad set of devices, some of these devices have 4 inch screens–some have 80 inch screens–and some don’t have screens at all. Some of these devices you hold in your hand, others are ten feet away. Some of these devices you primarily use touch/pen, others mouse/keyboard, others controller/gesture, ” Microsoft said in its announcement.

As reported by VG24/7 on Friday, October 3, the Xbox One console itself is said to receive an update at some point in 2015, which will allow for it to run “universal Windows apps”. These universal apps are described as apps based on the Windows 10 kernel, which is speculated to run on a wide variety of devices.

However, not every Windows or Windows phone app will be available for the Xbox One, according to International Business Times, although the new kernel will make it easier for developers to develop apps for any Microsoft device.

Microsoft explained that it was delivering one application platform for our developers. Whether you’re building a game or a line of business application, there will be one way to write a universal app that targets the entire family. ” More details on Windows 10 are said to arrive “ early in 2015.

We’ll bring you more news on the Xbox One and Windows 10 should further information reach our ears.
