As reported by CVG on Monday, October 6, it has been hinted that the Master Chief won’t be the protagonist of Halo 5: Guardians (like he has been in the previous games of the main Halo series), as actor Mike Colter, who’ll be playing the role of Agent Locke in the TV series Halo: Nightfall , has claimed that his character will instead be the main character for the upcoming addition to the Halo franchise.
” Yeah, I’m a playable character in Halo 5 , ” he claimed in an interview with X-One magazine, of which a snippet was posted online . ” Once Halo: The Master Chief Collection is released, and then Halo 5 comes out shortly thereafter, you’re basically going to be playing a game with me as the primary character.
I’ll have some cool weaponry, and some cool abilities, because by that time I’ll be a Spartan IV ,” Colter added.
While Colter didn’t exactly go any further into how Agent Locke would be played (or for how long) should his claim be in fact true, he did tease that the character himself will be quite an enigmatic one, and he also implied that Locke is actually hunting Master Chief.
” What’s not known, is whether I’m a friend or foe, ” Colter continued. ” The relationship between Master Chief and Jameson Locke is going to be interesting. Because what’s the outcome? Is he dead or alive?
Because that’s usually what a manhunt comes down to, dead or alive, but you won’t know what the purpose of finding Master Chief is [right away], ” he added. “ Or what will happen if we do find him, what condition he will be in, and where he’s at mentally. But I’m sure that’ll be a plot twist in Halo 5. ”
Agent Locke is the main character in the upcoming Halo: Nightfall series, which has been described as his origin’s story . Halo: Nightfall is slated to release for Microsoft’s Xbox and Surface platforms on Tuesday, November 11, and Halo 5: Guardians is slated to release at some point in Q4 2015,
